Senator
Jerry Useni is a man whose antecedents speaks volume about his role as a
nationalist and a leader who has contributed immensely towards the growth of
our nation Nigeria and his people of Plateau State in particular. He is defined
in three letter words of TRUST, INTEGRITY & EXPERIENCE (TIE).
Recognising
his contributions to his people and his great achievement so far which are not
disputable, he was beckoned by his people to contest for 2015 Senatorial seat
representing the zone Plateau South. He answered the call and his people paid
him back with overwhelming support that elected him to represent them at this 8th
Senate.
He
has since repaid his people the trust they have in him with sterling performances
at the senate that has seen him sponsor several bills and motions. Most importantly,
he has attracted a lot of constituency projects to his constituency which was
hitherto forgotten by Federal Govt until his emergence as their senator.
Prior
to his election as Senator, he has hitherto held several leadership positions
in politics. He was the Deputy Chairman North for ANPP in 2003 but left the
party in 2006 to become the chairman of Democratic Peoples Party DPP. In 2015
he contested the senatorial seat under PDP and won to represent Plateau South.
Presently,
Plateau State Govt house is occupied by APC Governor Simon Lalong, who has
struggled to garner support among his people who feel that the party he belongs
to does not represent and protect their interest enough. This has whittled down
his support base with many calling for a return of PDP leadership to Government
House Jos.
Top
on the issues of concern to the people has been on insecurity which has exacerbated
with series of unchecked attacks on many communities in plateau state without
proper response from Government to address the issue and bring the perpetrators
to book.
The
people after reviewing the list of gubernatorial probables for this coming
election, based on opinion polls, many believed the only man that will
stabilize their state is Senator Jeremiah Useni. This was based on his
antecedents as a former general who has the capacity and influence in the
military to bring the situation under control.
While
declaring his interest at the party secretariat in Jos, he said:
“I want to restore peace and justice to Plateau. I want to restore
unity, love, dignity and prosperity to Plateau. I also want to restore the
vision of its founding fathers.
“Plateau belongs to us and our task is to make it a great place;
that is what I want to do.”
This
sums up his vision for the great state of Plateau. His burning desire to rescue
his people and restore the glory of the state in tandem with the vision of the
founding fathers is indescribable.
The
entire plateau state is excited about his candidature and everyone is praying
for him to get the ticket for PDP, a party they believe will protect the
interest of their people. He has continued to get warm reception on the
campaign trail across the state. Many political and interest groups across the
state have already endorsed him and are mobilising supports for him across the
state.
Accordingly,
the zoning favours him since he comes from the South where the ticked has been
zoned to, as the South would have finished one term by 2019, while Jeremiah
Useni is expected complete the second term for the zone with just one term in
office.
The
candidature of Senator Jeremiah Useni is what will bring back confidence of the
people to the Govt house in Jos. There is general disaffection in the land and
many feel the present leadership has not done enough to curtail the spate of
insecurity in the state.
Finally,
as the PDP Governorship primaries comes up on Sunday the 30th of
October, all hands must be on deck to nominate Senator Jeremiah Useni as PDP
candidate for the 2019 General Elections to brighten the chances of the party
to clinch the governorship sit.
Jerry
useni is the choice of the people. Lets
vote TRUST, INTEGRITY & EXPERIENCE.(TIE)
