IT’S A CAMPAIGN, SO DIFFERENT FROM,,,,,,

 

On February 11th, Peter Obi and Labour Party completed their rallies across 37 States of Nigeria with Abuja included in such an unprecedented manner in the history of Nigeria.

Before I delve into the crux of the matter and the details of this campaign, its pertinent for me to give you a historical background of how it all started. 

I was one of the early birds who cajoled Peter Obi through my writing and social media post for him to join the race to rescue Nigeria, until he finally joined the race officially in March 2022. 

I openly attacked Peter Obi and Igbo politicians and leaders in my piece titled: 2023: WHO WILL GO FOR NDIGBO published in my official blog www.BBCng.com on MARCH 22nd 2022. Few days later, Peter Obi joined the race to the delight of everyone especially the youths and I felt relieved that I have played my own role. 

I was part of Atiku/Obi campaign in Anambra in 1999 when he was contesting in joint ticket with Atiku. I worked with Oseloka Obaze his Principal Adviser and former SSG to Anambra state. That was my first hand interface with Peter Obi and his work ethic as a shrewd and smart politician who has passion for the people and ready to risk his life for the masses.

So when Peter Obi joined the race in March, I was the first group that took up the social media campaign through Twitter to create awareness about this gem of a politician from the outset.

We started mobilization on social media as Peter Obi started his tour of all the 37 states plus FCT to engage PDP delegates to vote for him. In all the states, his message was simple. To take Nigeria from consumption to Production and to inform everyone that our economy is in back shape hence the general pot in which the sharing of money and resources is driven from, has depleted to almost nothing. So there is need for  paradigm shift from the politics of money sharing to the politics of competence and transparent Govt to rescue our nation from the precipice.

Peter Obi was the first candidate to move round all the 36 states delivering his gospel of a New Nigeria that will help unlock our great potentials and birth a Nigeria of sufficiency and bouyant economy that will cater for the yearnings and job requirements of our vibrant youths.

As PDP primary edition drew closer, it became obvious that PDP was not going to play by the rules to zone the Presidency to the South and also to shun politics of Money and embrace a transparent process of choosing the candidate without monetary inducement and quid pro quo to sway delegates.

We started begging PDP and even mobilized our youths on ground who matched to PDP Wadata House with placards begging them to give us Peter Obi, but of course you know the second name of PDP is corruption and graft. They will not heed to the signs of time as they are still enmessed in their old politrics(if there is any word like that) of old structure without epiphany of the current times we are in where the dynamics of winning election has changed and suddenly been transferred into the hands of Nigerians through new electoral law and precisely the BVAS. No more one corrupt “structure” to collect money and thumbprint fake ballot papers and stuff into Ballot box to deliver his state or ward to his master who paid him to do so. The game has changed.

PDP was doomed ab initio. In the history of politics across the world, PDP is the only party in this universe that jettisons and ignores its base for an imaginery Northern block votes that does not exist. We explained to them through my write ups that no political party succeeds by jettisoning its electoral base. Its not possible. Its your base that will help you take the message to win that imaginery block votes in the North you are targeting. SE has been with you for two decades now without asking for anything. Now that its their turn, you begin to change the rules of the game. It can only land you to defeat and doomsday. All that prophecies are here before their eyes.

As at today, PDP is like an orphan that has no where to call home. No mother, no father but just wondering across Nigeria begging for votes from strangers. What a shame!

Eventually, Peter Obi left PDP at the eve of their corruption infested primary and joined Labour Party few days to PDP Primary election. There was jubilation across the land by the Youths who swore to follow him anywhere he goes to help build the Nigeria of our dreams.

Once again Peter Obi started the second journey of visiting all the 36 states plus FCT for Labour Party rallies. Peter Obi in the course of this campaign crisscrossing Nigeria, he visited areas that no Politician has ever dared to visit. Areas like North East where Boko Haram war has ravaged for decades now, Obi visited them unscathed even when he was denied entry by intelligence report prompting the security agents to advice him not to embark on such risky journey. Still he defied all the odds, risked his life and visited those areas in Borno State, Adamawa state etc. These states are the epicentres of Boko Haram war and no Nigerian politician including Atiku Abubakar who is from there has ever dared to visit these people.

When the flood came and ravaged the entire North central, Peter Obi was seen paddling canoe without even safety jacket just to access the situation and offer succour to the people in Benue, Taraba and Kogi, Bayelsa state etc.

Today, Peetr Obi is the first candidate to campaign in all the 37 states including Abuja twice in the history of Nigeria. 

In all his campaigns, he organizes two townhalls, one for studenst and one for women. In some occasions he covers all the 3 senatorial zones like he did in Edo state.

The energy and passion is out of this world. The commitment and the burning desire to rescue Nigeria from the precipice is completely unprecedented in our history.

There are few things to take from the Person of Peter Obi our Incoming President.

First he took many years to prepare for this job. He went to the best schools on earth like OXFORD University, HARVARD etc just to study leadership and politics to be able to arm himself with the requisite knowledge required to govern in this 21st century.

Don’t forget that he embarked on a trip to Egyt at the eve of his campaign just to understand their Energy sector and how they were able to revive their power sector to be able to generate 24hours power for their people. That is brilliance and proactiveness in leadership.

Secondly, Peter Obi is a bold and fearless leader that will not offer any excuses. Did you see him in a canoe on a high water level during the flood without life jacket risking his life just to access the situation forehand.

Peter Obi risked his life defying military intelligence and advice by visiting Boko haram ravaged communities in Adamawa and Borno Just to bring hope to the hopeless people who have been abandoned for years by the Govt that is supposed to cater for them. 

Thirdly Peter Obi is a leader who will not offer excuses. He is a man who will embrace the challenges  head on from day one because he prepared for this journey with his full chest.

Fourthly Peter Obi is a detribalized Nigerian who will npt care about where you are from to offer you opportunity so long as he knows you are qualified and has what it takes to give him result.

Fifthly, Peter Obi’s candidacy will unite Nigerians as he is already saying on campaign trail that he will form Govt of Unity where Nigerians will not identify themselves by their tribes again rather will be proud to say they are Nigerians both locally and abroad.

Finally, Peter Obi is a very compassionate leader who cares so much about the poor, the downtrodden and the masses. He is not in Govt to amass wealth, rather he is there to save the masses from the untold hardship orchestrated by poor leadership.

Peter Obi is a leasder ordained and sent by God to rescue our nation from descending into the abyss as a failed state. No leader has ever galvanized Nigerians into believing in their country like Peter Obi.

Peter Obi has run an unprecedented campaign different from any other campaign in our history as a nation.  All he owes us is to match to the polls on Feb 25th enmasse, stand patiently to cast our votes and remain their until our votes are counted and remitted electronically to INEC central data base. This is the only way we can protect our votes and unveil a new Nigeria of our choice and dreams.
