The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party Peter Obi addressed an international press conference today, an aftermath to the announcement of Bola Tinubu of APC as the winner of the election by INEC.
The election has been marred with irregularities and criminality with outright breaking of the law by the institution that is supposed to protect it, in this situation INEC.
INEC blatantly and arrogantly abandoned its own rules as enshrined by the law to adopt electoral transmission of votes result right from the Polling Units to the online portal called IREV to the viewing pleasure of Nigerians. This simple action negates the law and makes the entire process illegal.
International observers who were part of the participants cum stake holders in this election all condemned the election for not being transparent. Thy accused INEC of denying Nigerians the opportunity to fairly exercise their franchise.
Reports across the nation show that many people were disenfranchised either by INEC not coming early to a large pool of eligible voters at pooling centre, or coming with materials insufficient to capture all voters within the stipulated time. Also there were these issues of violence across board especially in APC states and River state. Violence was unleashed on people who refused to vote for APC who were adjudged to be from some ethic groups.
Some people were killed like young Corper shot in River State for refusing to compromise the result with agents of the state who unleashed violence on them. The poor Corper was shot and he died on the way to hospital.
In all this choas, INEC went ahead to announce a result even after the two major oppositions had worked out on the party from the venue of the collation in Abuja.
In response to that, the 2 major parties have all issued press statement condemning the process and claiming that there was no election as laid down rules were not adhered to. Hence the result being announced are illegal creation of INEC in collaboration with APC Govt.
The candidate of the most popular political party that contested in this lection Peter Obi of Labour Party, had his press conference today where he condemned the outright criminality and promised to seek redress in court to retrive his stolen mandate. According to Peter Obi- "We won this election and we will prove it. "
