TINUBU'S TENURE STARTS WITH BLUNDER

Tinubu took oath of office on May 29th as the 16th President of Nigeria amidst controversy of INEC rigging the election for him there by rubbishing his legitimacy ab initio as there  are cases in Court to finally decide who won the election.

Flash back during the campaign period, how APC boys were making noise that Tinubu is more experienced than any one on earth hence will hit the ground running. The were everyhere spreading this narrative with claims of how he made Lagos.

Fastforward on May 29th, in his inaugural speech, Tinubu exhibited amateur cum greenhorn and inexperience in his blanket statement which has changed the dynamics of economy completely within 24 hours.

During campaign trail, all the Presidential candidates pledged to remove the subsidy in consonance with the mythology that Subsidy regime is nothing but corruption. What Tinubu did not understand was that even though shrewd economist like Peter Obi said he was committed to removing subsidy, but that would require following due process.

First is engaging stakeholders in the sector, making sure that at least one refinery is working to guarantee local production, investing in palliative and economic progams that will cushion the effect of the removal on the masses including kickstarting his "From consumption to production" mantra. All these steps Peter Obi pledged to follow before finally removing the subsidy.

However, Tinubu on his inaugural speech, exhibiting inexperience in that level, as an amateur especially on economic issues went straight to make blanket political pronouncement without due process and consultation, announcing Fuel subsidy removal.

Nobody said don’t remove subsidy but it’s a gradual process. You need to consult stakeholders first, ensure refinery is working to guarantee local supply and introduce other palliatives before u proceed to the final phase. That’s how it works. But we r not surprised because Tinubu heard Obi saying he would remove subsidy, he didn’t understand that Obi will follow the stages i enumerated above to ensure that it won’t have adverse effect on economy and socioeconomic lives of people.

Well not surprised anyway, u can’t give what u don’t have. Tinubu doesn’t have Peter Obi’s intelligence and expertise about economy that’s why he would use blanket political statement to remove subsidy only to start backtracking now by saying that it’s not removed yet. Damaged already done because agberos are in power. No leadership intelligence just agbero style of governance .

Recall also that in 2023 Budget, fuel subsidy is covered even up to end of June. So why in a hurry to make political statement on the podium without taking time to consult with stakeholders.

As we speak now, the impact of this miscalculation is vibrating across Nigerian Filling stations as our greedy marketers have already jacked up the price to above N600 across the country even when they are still dispensing their old stock.

These are the repeated mistakes leaders without intelligence and economic know how like Buhari and Tinubu continue to do to destroy our economy. No consultations, just acting like military leaders.

This is not military regime for Christsake. You cannot be making blancket political statement on any issues let alone sensitive one like economy without due consultations with stakeholders in the economy.

Now that the deed has already been done and the economic impact is catastrophically vibrating across Nigeria, he is now suddenly saying oh, subsidy has not yet been removed. Who does that? Thats childish and inexperience statement.

Marketers are already smilling to the banks, fuel queues have returned, transport prices jarked up by 500% and perices of goods and services lining up to join the fray, and now you are realizing your mispeak and seeking to recalibrate your statement. Too late i guess.

So all the noise about Tinubu been experienced and ready from day one is all "WASH" and no substance as he has already started with blunder.

Its obvious that there will be many more blunders ahead as he doesnt even have cohesive expression due to his sickness and age, meaning that he will make alot of gafes and mistatements in the days ahead.

I dont envy his media advisers and spokesmen. They will be doing alot of clarifications as these gaffes and mistatements are made in the dasy ahead.

You simply cannot give what you dont have. Leadership at the level of Presidency is not the agbero Lagos state governorship style. It requires intelligence which i dont think Tinubu has.

We will be watching on the sidelines.
