AKPABIO A GOOD CHOICE AS SENATE PRESIDENT

 

Senate Godswill Akpabio won the fiery contest for Senate President position after defeating former Zamfara State governor Ahmed Yari.

Senator Yari had plotted a coup against his party's chosen candidate Akpabio with the war chest of money which many think all come from the poor Zamfara, a state that is rich in GOLD which is mined daily illegally by the political class in the North to enrich themselves.

During the campaign for the Senate President, i had argued that the North has no basis to seek to contest Senate President again after holding that position for about 16years now starting from David Mark of PDP 8 years and Buhari Administration where Saraki and Ahmed Lawan all from the North held sway for 8 years.

Also, i argued that the North will always fight desperately for any position of governance but when given to them they have nothing to offer. We are just coming out from the rubber stamp senate under Ahmed Lawan. The worst senate in the history of Nigeria

Another reason while i supported Akpabio is because i know he is a Liberal Nigerian that will be open minded in running the Senate without any form of bigotry.

Also i know Akpabio as a smart politician that understands the politics of the North and Senate and knows how to manipulate his way out of it.

He proved me right as he manipulated his way against the momentum that Northern senators gave Yari at the last minute, but when the chips were down Akpabio won to my own delight.

Today i am just reading of the Principal officers announced by Akpabio and my argument has been justified and am vindicated as he appointed LP Senator Nwokocha as Minority Whip while NNPP senator Hanga was appointed Deputy Minority whip.

This shows that if Peter Obi regains his mandate, Akpabio will work in agreement with him without any rancour or controversy to help berth a New Nigeria of our dream.
