Toni Kroos scored injury time winner to give Germany a 2-1 win over Sweden and rescue their qualification hopes.
Germany went into the second game without a point after loosing to Mexico at the opening Match. Mexico won their second game today against South Korea to guarantee their qualification from the group. Sweden on its own, also has 3 points after winning their first game against South Korea.
A loss today would have mathematically eliminated Germany leaving their last game a mere academic.
Once again Germany started on a sloppy note as the did against Mexico, loosing possession in midfield on few occasions. Sweden managed to take advantage of one and missed other chances to rap up the game up in first half with about 3 goals up.
In second half, Germany came back pressing and got the equaliser. Once again poor defending would have seen Sweden score the second goal but they were not clinical in front of goal.
At the end, their profligacy cost them the match as Kroos brilliant free kick from the edge of the box gave Germany hope to fight another day as they will face Korea on the last group game to determine who qualifies.
