Honourable Chike
Okafor, the House of Representative member representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte
Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency is a rising lawmaker, an astute professional
who is not your everyday Nigerian politician considering his pedigree in the Banking
Industry where he performed excellently and left landmark records that
propelled him to the Senior Management level before venturing into politics.
He holds a BSc from Imo
State University, Msc from Imo State University and FNIM in ESUT Business
School with many professional courses attended so far.
He first came to
prominence when he was appointed the commissioner of Finance in Imo state by
Rochas Okorocha. Many who did not know much about him wondered while Rochas
will entrust such a big portfolio to such an unknown. But Honourable Chike Okafor
is a man who cannot be cowed when it comes to productivity and achieving
result. That he simply did.
He brought
accountability, transparency and probity into Imo state finance. Under his
watch Imo State IGR grew tremendously and he worked tirelessly to clean up the
books and brought efficiency into the ministry.
He reduced wastages and
blocked revenue leakages in the account of Imo State. He simply made the entire
system effective and efficient with his private sector driven ideas and
initiatives.
With such a commendable
and laudable performance as a commissioner, many were not surprised to hear the
clamour from his people for him to represent them at the Federal level and bring
his magic wand into the improvement of the well being of the communities
through people oriented representation.
He decided to answer
the call to serve his people, and today the people are happy. He has continued
to rise nationally with many tipping him to be the future Governor of Imo
State.
Presently, as a house
of representative member, it did not take long for the green chambers to discover
his potentials hence they entrusted him with the responsibility to head one of
the very important committees called House
Committee on Health.
He leveraged on that
opportunity to bring his work ethic and professionalism to bear with sterling
performances as the chairman.
His constituency has
benefited immensely as he has attracted many people oriented projects including
free medical outreach programs for his people.
Many people from his
constituency who have felt neglected for years have gotten a reprieve through
Federal jobs he has assisted them to get.
He is presently one of
the key performers at the green chambers especially for the ruling party APC.
Imo State people recognising
his rising profile and astuteness, started calling him to come home to vie for
the position of governor of the state, to manage the affairs of the state
efficiently and bring it to level of recognition and growth the state deserves.
But unfortunately, he
is a man who would not want to rock the boat or betray his friends. So he
openly said that the candidate being presented by the governor Uche Nwosu, is
his friend hence he would not want to compete with him. Instead he opted to go
for second term as House of representative member to consolidate on his
achievements for his people.
It was a relief and
cheering news as well for his people who really wanted to see him continue his
good works for them at the national level where he is carving a niche for
himself and for his people at large.
Honoruable Chike has
sponsored many Bills and Motions at the House of Representatives. He has
sustained the momentum in attracting Constituency Projects to the good people
of Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo constituency. Many projects have been
attracted for the past two Budget Cycles of the Federal Government since 2015
they came into power.
Accordingly, many more are expected in this 2018 Budget
that has just been passed by the parliament, to help consolidate his work for
his people who love him dearly and are committed to their continued representation
through him.
Apparently, as the
clamour for the youths to take over mantle of leadership gets more amplified at
all quarters, Honourable Chike is certainly one of the future leaders our
country is clamouring for to bring required leadership to equip us accordingly
to compete equitably at the global arena in this 21st century.
The good people of
Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal constituency are certainly very
fortunate to have an honest man of integrity, a rare gem to represent them. It
implies that the future of that constituency is bullish as their son will
certainly rise to the pinnacle of leadership in Nigeria very soon.
