I just came back from
Imo state few days ago, my first real visit since about three years ago when I came
back from Canada and visited. Without equivocation, the state has continued to
grow geometrically with a buoyant local economy and fast growing
infrastructure.
Years back when one
ventured to visit home, there is always that feeling of going to one small city
or town with just very few road network and businesses, but today the rate at
which modern business activities are growing coupled with modern and broad road
arteries and network got me spellbound.
Take it or leave,
Rochas has built a legacy in the state with infrastructures erupting from many
parts of the state thereby attracting economic activities that will continue to
contribute towards the growth of the state economy.
This has generated a
lot of interest from many Igbos in Diaspora, prompting them to come back home
and invest. I had written about the need to build a secure and stable economy
with infratructures that will attract the interest of large number of Igbos in
Diapora who desire to come home and contribute to the growth of our local
economy. Since am a product of Igbos in Diaspora, havng lived in Canada fro 13
years, I know what Igbos in Diaspora want.
Rochas and his team realized
this and worked in tandem with that vision. Today Imo sate is reaping that benefit
as many Igbos in Diaspora have continued to duplicate their foreign investments
at home in Owerri.
The most critical part
of it all is that they are coming with 21st century standards and
technology down to their Imo state investments.
There is only one man
who has been in the thick of this growth and vision with Rochas Okorocha, and
its no one else except Uche Nwosu.
Uche Nwosu when he was
a commissioner, realized the need to open up Owerri and create a thriving real estate
while opening many areas with a very attractive road network that will ignite
the interest of Igbos in Diaspora. It’s on record that he was part of the
strategy team that deemed it fit to revolutionise and restructure the city to
suit modern realities and standards.
This make Uche Nwosu
the best candidate to consolidate in the works of Rochas and stimulate greater growth
of the local economy in line with modern realities.
Uche Nwosu in the mix of
all the candidates for the gubernatorial race coming up in Imo state, is an
embodiment of what Imo state wants at this critical stage of our history.
His vision, intelligence
and personae will continue to attract the interest of Igbos in Diaspora to come
back home and continue to bring their wealth of knowledge home through
investments that meet international standards.
Uche Nwosu is a young
man who is not a money bag politician who will work to see that his state stabilizes.
He will strengthen the local economy and most importantly, ensure that many of
the vital projects started by Rochas across the state are completed. This will
fully synergise the growth of the state economy and optimize the opportunities
that abound in human capital, mineral resources, agricultural resources, aviation
industry et al.
I took my time to tour
round parts of Owerri metropolis and I must say that what I saw is commendable
and is an indication that the state economy will be booming with more than
average GDP growth in the next couple of years if the right candidate who can
leverage and consolidate on what is on ground is elected to complete the
projects and accelerate the vision of Owerri as envisaged by Rochas.
In the same vein, an
election of any of these old politicians who have outlived their relevance and
have done little or nothing to justify their dominance of political activities
in the state, will only set on us on the part of retrogression. This is because
these old block do not have the interest of the masses at heart and they are
semi gods and too big to listen to anyone when they grab the power. Rather it
will be an opportunity for them to set us on the part of retrogression to the
old days when Imo state was nothing to write home about.
They will not build any
infrastructure neither will they have the vision to integrate the youths with
21st century ideas into their administration to bring in modern
changes necessary to actualize many SDG goals.
We all should rally
around Uche Nwosu by voting for him for a better Imo state for consolidation and
growth which the rising sun city(Owerri) yearns for at this critical stage of
our history.
