On Saturday March 9th, Nigeria goes to poll again to elect our governors and the state house of assembly members. This is coming two weeks after the sham of election called Presidential election which took place on February 23rd.
The Presidential election has been marred by gross irregularities traced to INEC connivance with the ruling party, to disenfranchise many people from the south which is the stronghold of opposition party, while open a wild and unchecked gate of free thumb printing and under age voting in the North considered stronghold of the ruling party.
Many impossible results were announced even in troubled deserted war torn areas of Borno, Yobe et al with figures that cannot be backed up by card reader accreditation let alone existence of people in these communities that have long been abandoned due to raging war.
Since then there has been protest upon protest by civil society organisations and oppositions questioning the result announced by INEC and also calling for accreditation list to be published for everyone to see on INEC website.
The nation goes to poll again but this time there is no zeal and excitement from the electorate because people believe that INEC already has imaginery result it will announce anyway, so while waste their time to go and cast votes that will not count.
So the question goes back to INEC, will our votes count or are we going to waste our time again?
