The Independent National Electoral Commission has issued a Certificate of Return to the Imo North Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 election, Benjamin Uwajimogun.
The brief ceremony at INEC Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday was witnessed by the Senator and his friends and supporters.
One then wonders while the protracted drama to issue certificate to someone declared winner by INEC without any external pressure or manipulation for months now without any serious reason.
The entire drama between INEC and Uwajumogu all fuels the speculation that INEC and the powers that be in Abuja only intentionally decided to frustrate him from vying for Principal positions at the Senate in representation of Igbo interest.
During the 8th National Assembly, the excuse for excluding Igbos was that there was no existing lawmaker from the party that will meet the requirements that principal officers must not be new comers in the red chambers.
This time around Senator Uwajumogu who was part of 8th senate and has the requisite experience to clinch the Senate President or Deputy Senate president since he belongs to the ruling party, was systematically excluded from participating in the election.
Now that the election is over and the principal officers have been elected, APC Govt now decided to issue him certificate though INEC. All these politics of exclusion will not help our country move forward.
While commending the judiciary for standing by the truth, the Senator equally applauded INEC for obeying court order.
Uwajumogun said he would be committed to serving Imo North better than he did in The 8th Senate.
He equally commended the people of Imo North for not taking laws into their hands.
